Diamonds of all colors are a miracle of nature and fancy colored diamonds are quite rare.
The beauty of a diamond is based on the absence of color. The diamond's value is due to its brilliance and fire achieved by the cutting techniques applied to the stone.

Throughout the ages, the white diamond was supreme. The whiter the better. However, today the colored diamond has achieved a special status. The brilliance of the diamond combined with color has produced the phenomenon of the fancy color diamond. Color is the most important factor that determines the value of a fancy color diamond. Fancy colored diamonds can be found in hues and colors such as yellow,orange,pink,brown,green,blue,purple,black,and red. In contrast to colorless and near colorless diamonds that the public is familiar with, natural fancy colored diamonds are valued for their intensity and their distribution of color.

The geological formation of natural color diamonds requires not only the special conditions needed for the creation of all diamonds but also the presence of other trace elements and distortations to the diamond crystal. There are basically two main causes of color in diamonds: the presence of foreign impurity atoms which replace carbon atoms,affecting the gems' atomic structure - both which act as color. If an element interacts with carbon atoms during the creation of a diamond, the color can change. Radiation and pressure on a diamond's structure will also have an impact on its color.
